A Happy Anniversary

This past weekend Andrew and I celebrated our anniversary. We had a great date to Tois Garçons and enjoyed seeing London at night (it doesn't happen that often!) I couldn't ask for a better husband. I'm grateful for him and everything he does for me. He's definitely the better half around here. Here's to 10 happy years!

Colour Does Make People Happy

As promised, here are a some photos from Lois's birthday party. We had it at one of my favorite places in our neighborhood, a paint shop called Colour Makes People Happy. I wrote a post about it here a while back. A paint shop might seem like an unusual place for a birthday party, but this is no ordinary paint shop and it's one that happens to be great for kids. It was a joint party with one of Lois's little buddies. We managed to cram 20+ kids in with their parents but it didn't feel as cramped as I was expecting. We had light bites, a movie on in the back room (the cinema room...how fun that a paint shop has a little cinema room?), face painting, and lots of spin art painting. The kids each had a turn on the spinning wheel, making some really fun pictures.

Birthday Baking

Last week Lois had her 5th birthday. I can't believe she's already five! I think everyone who has children can't believe how fast their children grow up and remark on that as they get older, but time does fly. We had a really fun party over the weekend. As soon as I get the party photos on my computer, I'll do a party post. But before the party we had to bake a few things.

Sunday Stack

This weekend we made some yummy pancakes. Lemon poppyseed buttermilk pancakes to be specific! Sounds good, don't you think? And they are gluten free, and so light and fluffy and you don't get that puffy, "dang I ate too much!" feeling after having a stack of them. These are from La Tartine Gourmande, a great cookbook that is especially good for anyone who needs (or just wants) to eat gluten free. Gluten aggravates the hubbers so we try go do gluten free when possible. We've made these a number of times and love them each time. You can find lots of gluten free recipes on the La Tartine Gourmande blog. This recipe is not on her blog, but I found it here. But you should just get the cookbook! You won't be disappointed. Hmm, I couldn't decide which photo I liked more, the one above or below. What really matters, though, is the pancakes! So good.

Cozy with 91Magazine

This week, Caroline, of Patchwork Harmony released the latest issue of her magazine, 91 Magazine, which is great as usual. Vintage, crafty, and all pretty. Some of the highlights for me are a nice article on apothecary bottles, a vintage lover's guide to Brighton, and of course some really great home and shop tours. Lots of eye candy in this issue! So have a read for yourself here.
